Tiered Democratic Governance (TDG)

This section of my website has my invention of replacing western democracy with another system of elected government. While many world citizens have all sorts of complaints about politicians and the decisions they come to, the world seems still content enough with western democracy as not to be interested in other ideas. I need to be very patient with this concept.

My chosen popular online DVOA broker had an “advice” column. It recommends to experiment with the ad units to find out which layouts produce better revenue. So since 2009, I have tried several different DVOA layouts, with no increase in either reader engagement or ad revenue.

The last version of ad units from my favorite online broker had one 250 x 250 unit in the top left corner, with text flowing around the ad. When converting to DVO DVOA, I merely replaced this ad unit with one of my own units.

The ad pool for TDG has 30 ad spots. Some of the ads are the same for DVO DVOA, but there are also some different ads, which are a little more suitable for readers interested in new systems of governance.

With TDG, I was able to take a different strategy as compared to my DVO DVOA webpages. It's important to note that DVO DVOA allows for different size of ad pools (or frequencies), different size of ads, and different ways of displaying ads. It's all in your control to create the effect you want to create.

While my ad pool for TDG is much superior to the ads coming from the broker, I don't think this pool is as effective when compared to the pool for the DVO DVOA webpages. I think having only one ad space per webpage—even though it is embedded in the content and very hard to ignore—does not create much vibrancy. I think this ad unit still annoys the few readers who may have an interest in an alternative form governance.

So take a look at TDG. Run through about 20 webpages to see how DVO DVOA has been implemented here. Perhaps the TDG layout is a good lesson for future implementers of DVO DVOA as how not to layout DVO DVOA.

Someday, I will reformat these webpages to get a better effect with DVO DVOA, but I have other priorities. When I do reformat these pages, I am thinking of an ad row at the bottom. There will be three ads about 200 x 80. These ads will be away from the content and reduced in space, so serious readers of TDG should not be as annoyed. Yet the ever changing ads will create a fresh look to the webpages as these readers read through the concept. The readers might even notice some of these smaller ads!

P.S. Here's a side bit of information website publishers may be interested in. If DVO DVOA sells just one non-profit ad spot for a year-long campaign at my very low rates for TDG, I will earn more annual revenue from that one sale than all my cost-per-click revenue from my current online broker.
