Another Set of Themed Ads
When I started building the ad pool, I put in six ads with a white background (three for TDG and three for DVBE). With 6/25 ads being white, I thought I needed some dark backgrounds to counter the whiteness. So I made four black ads, each with a different marketing message.
Did you notice these black ads? Were your curious about them? Did you read their text?
If so, this webpage layout has been very, very effective on your psyche. Here's why your inspection of these ads is very noteworthy.
You see, I've been a Bahá’í for 19 years. Part of my mission is to teach the Faith to the world. As much as I like to talk about the Faith, I find it hard to find a receptive audience. When I try to introduce the Bahá’í Faith in everyday conversation, I see people getting nervous and finding interesting ways to change the topic. My experience says that most of you won't have much interest in hearing about my religion.
Yet you made eye contact with those black ads, and you inspected their Bahá’í messages. I got you to look closely at an ad you probably didn't want to know much about!
I give little credit to the actual ad design or its message. This ad was rather easy to generate with my banner-making program and took no special expertise. If I were to show this ad to a professional designer, he or she would degrade it as work of an amateur. I suspect that if it were the only ad on this webpage, it would have gone mostly unnoticed.
The reason why you took interest in the four ads came from four other attributes: (1) the black background contrasted with the six white ads, enhancing the vibrancy of the ad column (2) the four black ads had a slightly different visual appearance, arousing your curiosity to discover the theme, (3) the black ads may have been a secondary interest when they were adjacent to an ad that really caught your attention, and (4) there is still something intriguing about the ad spaces stacked in vertical column. In other words, it really was DVO DVOA that got you to read these ads, not its Bahá’í message or its design.
I think you now see an important point about DVO DVOA: If I can get you to look at ads for marketing messages you have little interest in, your own website can be equally as effective at showcasing your ads and your selected advertisers' ads by using DVO DVOA. Your ad spaces are worth a lot more money with DVO DVOA.
