The Project Manager

It may be natural to assume that because I am designing the conceptual stage, I am the best one to implement it. Nothing is further from the truth. Here are my reasons:

  1. In my younger days, I was a manager. I acknowledge the energy it takes to choreograph people and resources, solve many small problems, keep the organization in compliance with many government regulations, learn many new things to keep the business moving forward, handle interruptions and emergencies, and multi-task. Approaching my retirement years and having recovered from a long-term illness, I really don't want this kind of challenge in my life any more. I am content to pass the actual building of Consensus to a more capable person.
  2. Although I am not a software programmer, I have worked with programmers to build software. I know building Consensus will require more software knowledge and experience than I currently have—and I'm not willing get that knowledge.
  3. I really don't “grok” social networking. This project needs a project manager who does.

If you don't know the meaning of “grok,” you should look it up. This word needs to be used more in the English language. It certainly applies to my understanding of social networking.

My handing off this project to someone else is no different than engineers and architects handing over building plans to the construction project manager.

I am indeed looking for someone to become the project manager to build Consensus. While I expect such a person to follow much of my plan, I also expect a few better ideas and a few unforeseen issues. My plan is likely to change.

When I am confident that I have found this project manager, I will formally endorse that person(s) and ensure this section of my website is linked to the official Consensus website. The trade name and logo will become responsibility of the project manager.

For introducing Consensus to the world, laying out its organizational format, and turning over Consensus to the project manager, I am expecting C$19,000 in preferred shares in Consensus.

The next sections will outline the steps the project manager (PM) should take.
